An introduction to permaculture, smallholding, closing the circle and why on so many outsiders see the Eden that we are missing right here…

Join us for a wonderful afternoon at Commonshore, near Ballymote (3 minutes off the N4)
to learn about fruit production and uses including preservation and winemaking, coppicing for fuel, eco building, soil amendment and climate preservation, willow harvesting and basketry, pig keeping, rural tourism possibilities in the North West and the importance of working together as a community.
Food and beverages included, farm produce available for sale.

Tickets €10, kids under 12 go free


Friday January 29th:

Burns Night Dinner, Crossna Community Centre, Knockvicar, Co. Roscommon

Locally produced, organic haggis with traditional poetry reading and music. Entry 5€ if you bring food, 7€ Otherwise

The aim of this meeting is to raise awareness of our new Slow Food Convivium in the South Leitrim area, where there are very many small organic producers

Sunday, April 17th (TBC):

Medieval banquet at Hamilton’s Castle, Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim focusing on Dexter beef and craft beer. Entry 12-15€?

Wednesday, June 15th:

Raising and working with chickens at home. Greenheart Cottage, Dromahair, Co. Leitrim. Demonstrating caring for chickens and how they can help in the garden with tilling, fertilisation and pest control. Possible kids pizza workshop. Entry 5€

Sunday, August 21st:

Tomato Day at the Organic Centre, Rossinver, Co. Leitrim. Local chefs and restaurateurs showcasing tomato based dishes, tour of the poly tunnels and talks on gardening. Entry TBC

Sunday, September 11th (TBC):

Cruise on Lough Gill on the Rose of Inisfree boat with a forage in the surrounding forest and lunch on the boat. Hopefully hosted along with The White Hag brewing company. Entry 15-20€

Sunday, September 25th:

Harvest Festival/Apple Day at the Organic Centre. Apple juice, tours and talks. Entry TBC
