Norman Taste and Tales Celebration at Enniscorthy Castle by Slow Food Ireland & Rockin’ Food Festival

2 August 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm

€45.00

A celebration of Lughnasa, the beginning of the harvest season. An evening of food, stories, song and laughter in the medieval surroundings of Enniscorthy Castle.

Click here to buy your tickets.

The evening will be full of magnificent fish, meat, vegetables, herbs, cheese, fruit and beverages from the Wexford county and its neighbouring regions blended with enthralling stories, song and laughter – a true TasteWexford event. The harvest celebration will begin by entering the grounds of the castle where you will first enjoy a complimentary Jackford Irish Potato Gin on the ground floor of Enniscorthy Castle. Here you will see delicious grass-fed beef being cooked over an open fire by the guys from Smokin’ Soul.

As we start to see the sun set, the proceedings will commence with stories from Lorraine O’Dwyer, an enlightening storyteller, Celtic Witch and tour guide living in north Wexford. Expect to be entertained about how our history and folklore has shaped Ireland’s food and drink landscape today.

Guests will be invited upstairs to the first floor of the castle where an elaborate buffet table will be full of delicious food and fare. Just as the Normans ate, you too will get to feast throughout the night.

The evening will end on the roof of the castle (weather permitting) with a glass of Kinsale Mead or Highbank Orchards organic apple brandy, folklore and the breaking ceremony of a Bean and Goose single origin chocolate slab.

Ticket includes dinner and a complimentary Jackford Irish Potato Gin.

Please note, local craft beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks will be available to purchase on the night. Cash bar only.

This event is hosted in partnership with Slow Food Ireland and is part of the Rockin’ Food Festival that takes place in Enniscorthy over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
